Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa announced that the Ascension Counseling Center, often known as the Mental Health Unit, has been accredited by CARF International. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.
The CARF International group of companies currently accredits more than 50,000 programs and services at 25,000 locations. More than 10 million persons of all ages are served annually by 7,000 CARF-accredited service providers. “I am very pleased and excited by this accreditation,” said Matassa. “This is yet one more example of the high quality of services Ascension Parish provides to the people. I commend Suzanne Hamilton and her staff on a job well done.”
The accreditation is for three years, and specifically cites outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents. The accreditation letter states, “This achievement is an indication of your organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served. Services, personnel, and documentation clearly indicate an established pattern of conformance to standards.”
