ST. AMANT – St. Amant High had four football sign college scholarship on National Signing Day during a celebration at the school’s new freshmen academy Feb. 2.
St. Amant athletic director David Oliver said this senior class showed tremendous leadership and had a lot of talent. He credited the group of 33 seniors for turning the team into a top 10 program again.
“These things don’t happen by mistake,” Oliver said.
The signees included kicker/punter Briggs Bourgeois (Southern Miss), quarterback Hayden Mallory (Southern Arkansas), safety Patrick Wolfe (Houston Baptist) and defensive lineman/linebacker Garett Stephens (Garden City Kansas Community College).
Also signing from St. Amant were linebacker Cade Roddy (Louisiana College) in football and McKenzie King (LSU-Eunice) in softball.
Other area signees included Donaldsonville offensive lineman Kaleb Phillips (Independence Kansas Community College) while Dunham running back Tony Huey, a native of Donaldsonville, committed to Louisiana Tech.
