Members of the Ascension business community showed up on Thursday for the annual COEA Job Fair held during Disability Awareness Month.
High school students, residents of the area and clients of the COEA organization all gathered to discuss options and find out about any opportunities in the parish.
Put on by clients of COEA, it is a great way for their skills to be appreciated. Cheryl Rice, a coordinator at the facility, explains:
“It’s wonderful for us as an organization to be able to put this on for the community. Unfortunately, we are sometimes limited as to what we can do. This event allows us to showcase our abilities.
Our very own Angela Gauthier, Sales Executive for The Creole, was on hand, and felt the experience was great to be a part of.
“So many people came and wanted to know about opportunities we have. There’s a lot of would be writers out there, so don’t be surprised if you see their names in print sometime in the future,” she said.
Anne Marie Fontenot with InfiniEDGE Software, felt the networking aspect of the event was an enticing bonus.
“The job fair was a great opportunity for citizens of Ascension to meet businesses in the community. I was very impressed by the attendance and was glad to see so many people participate, especially the high school students. The people of Ascension are lucky to have such great leaders in the community who are working hard to help them succeed,” she said.
Rice couldn’t have been happier with the success of the event.
“It was a great job fair. So many people came out ans we were so supported by the business community here in Ascension Parish. We cannot thank everyone enough. We’ll be back again next March!”
