There is an overturned 18-wheeler at the corner of Highway 74 and KC Road. Police and fire trucks are currently working to remove the big rig from the ditch. The wreck is moved out of the way of traffic currently, but please drive through this area carefully.

We must have 10,000 tractor/trailer rigs in our parish. Why are there so many 18 wheeler accidents? Possible answers: 1) Drivers not properly trained on operating the big rigs. 2) Drivers not paying attention to the road conditions. 3) Drivers not observing the speed limits. Do you see the common denominator? DRIVERS. I realize there can also be other contributing factors.
I'm also curious about what occurs when the "accident" happens. Our police, fire fighters, tow truck business, etc. all respond quickly and start doing the best they can to remedy what is most time careless and reckless operations of the big rigs. Do the companies have to pay for all the public, volunteer, and services that it takes to clear the roads, right their trucks/trailers, transport the damaged equipment, and restore the public ditches, roads, signs, etc. back to normal? I now understand why so many attorneys specialize in big rig accident law suits and advertise that fact on TV.
Bottom line: Please, let's all drive carefully, observe the speed limits, pay attention (no texting, etc.), and you drivers of the big rigs, please, please take it easy and drive safely. Thank you.
That's a very tight turn for an 18-wheeler to make, and a very narrow road. I agree with Randy – driver's not paying attention, especially with a cell phone in their hand. I drive I-10 every day, and constantly passing someone or behind someone texting, which is against the law in Louisiana.
I agree that drivers of big rigs must pay attention when driving…Randy says the common demonibnator is the DRIVERS. I agree that drivers are the common denominator…ALL DRIVERS!
It is not always the fault of the big rigs….there are so many drivers on their cell phones while driving..be it cars, passanger trucks, etc….I urge all DRIVERS to stop using their cell phones while driving….
I drive an 18wheeler and I will say he should not have been trying to turn there…now look at all the money he or the company has to spend on something that dumb.
plus not having a job tomorrow.
