Time is running out, but it’s not too late to register for a non-credit OLLI class right here in Gonzales.

Five classes will be offered at the Gonzales Senior Center beginning the week of February 18 and run for six weeks.  They are: Monday – Classical Drawing and Painting, 1-3; Monday – Life Writing, 1-3; Wednesday – French, 12:15-2:15; Wednesday – Alzheimers:  It Matters to Your Brain, 1-3; Thursday – Acrylic Painting,1-3.

The usual membership fee of $40 is being waived until July 1 because Ascension is a charter chapter.  Go to www.outreach.lsu.edu/olli and you can register online, by mail, phone, or in person.  If you register online, just type in CHARTER before checking out.

Membership entitles you to register for as many OLLI courses as you’d like to take.  Most cost from $10 to $40. A few courses have additional fees to cover books or other supplies. An OLLI member may attend courses, coffees, field trips, nature walks, or other activities offered by any of the chapters within OLLI at LSU.

Are you at least 50 and love to learn new things? Want to go to school but not worry about tests or grades?  If your answer is yes, you should consider taking an OLLI class.  It’s never too late to learn!

  1. Thanks, Charlotte, for posting our news. If anyone out there would like to begin writing short stories of their life, this is a great opportunity to start a family document that can link one generation to another. This is a fun, no stress way to begin! Join us — we are looking for a few more "students." But you must be at least 50!
