Fatality confirmed in Hwy. 22 single vehicle crash

Wednesday, September 4, 11:29 p.m.

TheCreole_Icons_FatalAccidentSt. Amant Volunteer Fire Chief James LeBlanc has confirmed that a death has occurred as a result of a single vehicle accident on Hwy. 22 late tonight near the Diversion Canal.

Emergency personnel spent upwards of 35 minutes extracting a female from the vehicle which had veered off of the road and struck a tree. A second person in the vehicle, a male, was transported to an area hospital.

As the road will be closed until the early hours of the morning, Chief LeBlanc is requesting that drivers make alternate arrangements for travel.

We will report back with new information when it becomes available.

Our hearts and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased.
