More details emerge on kidnapping suspect

JOHN AGUILLARDEarly Friday morning, John Aguillard Jr., 20, of 1511 N. Anita Ave., Gonzales, turned himself in to officers at the Gonzales Police Department in connection to warrants out of East Baton Rouge Parish for kidnapping. He was also booked on outstanding bench warrants for the illegal carrying of firearms and narcotics in the Gonzales area.

The Creole has since found that the kidnapping charge stems from Aguillard being accused of taking two young children in an SUV from a Circle K on Highland Rd. in Baton Rouge in the early hours of Thursday morning.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the SUV was running at the time, and Aguillard is accused of stealing the vehicle and leaving with it while the driver was inside the store. When the children were noticed in the car, they were turned out of the vehicle and left alone outside of  a Quick Mart store on Old Perkins Rd. Fortunately, the children were found safe and without injury.

Aguillard has been transported to the Ascension Parish Jail, where he will be held until meeting bond. At that time, he will be extradited to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department.

  3. Carla Tanner King says:

I'll never understand why people leave their children in a car while they go in a store.

  4. The Parent should be arrested also , for leaving her children unattended .

  5. David Grunewald says:

Close to being the right story.

  6. Karen says:

This article doesnt explain why BOTH parents left the vehicle with their two children inside. I want more information… if it happened just like this story says, why were the parents not arrested for abandoning their children?

  7. Nichole says:

Well the parents didn’t “abandon” their children. They went into a store (I’m sure to be quick) with every intention of returning to their children. Abandonment mean to leave a loved one with no intention of ever returning! my parents left me and my siblings in the car daily to run errands ect. And on rare occasion I leave my children with the doors looked and the vehicle still running when I won’t be but a minute. Quit pointing fingers at the parents. They love their children like u love yours but they made a mistake so let them deal with that. Smh this country is shit!
